Sculptor

I started sculpting in stone ten years ago after moving to France and stopping paid work in the building industry. I enjoyed the physicality of stone carving; I founding it very grounding and it helped to slow me down. I also loved the idea of discovering form in a block of stone then being able to polish it and transform a dull rock into something very special and beautiful. Later I discovered arch welding which opened me to the possibility of making larger sculptures and combining metal and stone together. In 2018 I started working with terracotta clay, making heads and other small figures, firing them then finishing them with wax and patina. In 2020 during the Covid19 lockdown I started a new series of sculptures which use, stone, metal and terracotta. In this new work I am exploring a surreal and imaginary world which is a metaphor of the world we are experiencing now. I am currently working on new pieces which involve sound and movement using these machine sculptures. I have also been experimenting with mixed media and social commentary ideas.
